Below is information on how you can attend the 2008 National Solar Tour in the Central Florida area. On Saturday, October 4th, thousands of solar-powered homes and buildings in 46 states will be open for public tours as part of the 13th annual American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour. Here in Central Florida, there will be over fifteen homes, schools, and businesses on the tour. The National Solar Tour offers an opportunity to see how others in your community are putting reliable solar power and energy efficient technologies to work. Come meet the owners and see how they have made solar energy a part of their lives. Learn how the Florida solar rebates and a 30% Federal Tax Credit can help you do the same.
The Tour
This is a self-guided tour. Below is a list of solar sites that are currently on the tour. More are being added each day. One week before the tour date, we will post the address along with a Mapquest link for each site. We recommend you choose the tour sites you would most like to visit, download the Mapquest map with directions when available, and then just show up within the times listed on Saturday, October 4th. The owners will meet you and be available to talk about their solar systems. There will also be a solar contractor or other representative of the solar industry at most sites to help answer technical questions and provide information on the current government incentives. The tour sites will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Downloadable Tour Guide
One week prior to the tour date, we will also have available on this page a Solar Tour Guide you can downlaod and print. The guide will have a full list of the solar sites, addresses, descriptions, and phone numbers of the industry representative at each site. This guide, along with your Mapquest map to each chosen site, is all you will need to take the tour. More informational materials will be available to you at each site.
